Gerry Docherty
Gerry is the Non-Exec Director of the Wireless team working alongside Tom Ogilvie to provide strategic planning and advice for the Wireless Innovation initiative.
After an early career in consultancy in the defence sector in the UK and USA, Gerry Docherty became the founding Managing Director of Real Time Engineering in 1988. Over the following 18 years, he helped to develop the company to become one of Scotland's largest and most successful indigenous IT organisations. The company was acquired by French-based Sword Group in late 2006, and Gerry left the organisation in March 2007.
In the mid-90s, he served for two years as Chairman of the Scottish Software Federation. In 2000, he became the founding Chairman of ScotlandIS, the trade association for ICT companies in Scotland. In 2003 and 2004, he served on the board of Scotland the Brand, promoting Scottish products and excellence abroad.
He is currently non-executive Chairman of New Media Partners, a strategic consultancy in the creative industries arena. He is also Chair of the Advisory Group for Common Purpose in Glasgow, and is a non-executive director of Conscia Ltd.
