TTOM Innovation Partnering Event

Scottish Enterprise and its TTOM (Technology Transfer Opportunity Mechanism) partners: the Scottish Optoelectronics Association (SOA), BioIndustry Association (BIA) Scotland, Electronics Scotland, Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) and ScotlandIS, invite you to participate in this TTOM Innovation Partnering event.
The Event will be of interest if you are a small or medium enterprise (SME) with an interest in asking a Scottish Higher Education Institution (HEI) researcher to carry out a feasibility study for you, such as evaluation of alternative technical approaches, indication of possible solutions to a technical problem, or providing technical advice. TTOM is a very useful first step for SMEs who have not yet engaged with a HEI or with grant support mechanisms.
The event’s keynote address will be given by Colin Borland of the Federation of Small Businesses. Colin has extensive insight into the challenges which SMEs face and can offer a unique and interesting perspective on how to achieve business success and growth.
TTOM is a financial assistance programme which aims to improve technology transfer between Scottish SMEs and Scotland's HEIs in a range of high growth markets, associated with new technology development.
The aim is to enable technology transfer projects, particularly with a cross-sectoral and inter-disciplinary focus. TTOM Grants are paid directly to eligible SME companies on a competitive basis, who will then contract with relevant research groups in HEIs to provide the assistance required. The maximum level of grant will be £5000, paid at a maximum rate of 75%, with the remaining 25% being cash or in-kind contributions from the client SME company. Support in finding appropriate academic expertise will be provided by Interface, the Scottish service for connecting business to HEI research.
TTOM encompasses emerging technologies in sectors such as Energy, Life Science, Digital Media, Enabling Technologies (including optoelectronics, electronics, microelectronics and software) and Sustainable Transport.
