Sims Recycling Solutions acquires HPIC graduate company, S3 Interactive Limited

Wednesday, 5th October, 2011

Sims Recycling Solutions has expanded its ICT Asset Recovery business into mobile devices with the acquisition of S3 Interactive Limited (S3i), a UK leader in the recovery, repair and refurbishment of devices such as smart phones and tablet computers.

S3i, who started their business in Hillington Park Innovation Centre, is a Glasgow based, asset recovery, enterprise operating in the growing mass market mobile technology device sector. It specialises in recovering end of life and defective mobile devices from manufacturers’ warranty and non-warranty service providers. These devices are then repaired, data-wiped and refurbished, before being sold globally.

Graham Davy, CEO of Sims Recycling Solutions commented: “We are already a global leader in the recovery of Information Communications Technology such as laptops, desktops and servers. The acquisition of S3i will position Sims Recycling Solutions in the rapidly growing market of mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet computers. The desirable strategic outcome is to leverage S3i’s sector leadership into our existing global operating infrastructure to grow this new vertical channel.”

S3i was founded by Philip Johnston in 2004. Driven by research and development, the company became industry leaders in rapidly developing economic repair and recycling procedures for new technology. This ability to quickly offer Mobile Phone Networks solutions for their new technology has seen rapid growth as Philip explains: “S3i has achieved tremendous success on servicing our clients’ needs. We are now at a point that, to continue to exceed our clients’ expectations requires us to enter new markets and Sims provides the perfect platform to achieve this.”

Philip and his complete management team are staying on to drive the growth of the S3i business, as part of Sims Recycling Solutions. Graham Davy is optimistic about the future. “I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Philip, his management team and the employees of S3i. Their extensive experience is a natural fit with Sims Recycling Solutions and as a scalable business, we are very excited by the prospect of expanding their services to our global client base. Together we can offer a sustainable solution for our clients’ valuable electronic resources in a secure, environmentally responsible and cost effective manner.”
