A success story of recognisable proportions
AMEC’s Glasgow office opened at the Hillington Park Innovation Centre three years ago and has now grown to house around 48 staff, with a number based at customers’ sites.
“Our base in Glasgow has enabled us to recruit key engineers and technical staff who not only provide support to the nuclear and defence industry in Scotland, but also to the rest of the UK and overseas,” says Charlie Boyle.
“Our aim is to continue to grow our presence in Scotland, providing engineering and technical consultancy to the Nuclear and Defence sectors in Scotland and throughout the UK. A success story of recognisable proportions.
“Our office employees range from senior engineers to graduate trainees with physics, engineering and technology backgrounds – as well as career professionals and project managers. Our activities include providing engineering consultancy and project management services to a range of clients – mainly, but not exclusively to, the power industry.”
The office has its own admin staff, but relies to a great extent for its building services support on Innovation Centre staff, including use of meeting rooms, postal services, catering and some IT support.
The location is convenient for staff travel from home to work, as well as providing excellent access routes to client sites and to Glasgow Airport, and the parking facilities of the centre are very good, with ample space available.
“The Centre’s staff have been responsive and accommodating to our office needs, especially with the demands imposed by the success and expansion of the business,” says Mr Boyle. “They are very approachable and always keen on meeting the needs of AMEC’s staff and office in a timely and friendly manner.”
