The Biggart Baillie Innovation Award
The competition seeks to celebrate the wealth of creativity in Scotland by inviting inventors to submit their ideas to a panel of experts who will judge the winners on the following criteria:
Entrants must:
Have developed, or be in the process of developing, an idea which is a first or an innovative twist on an old idea
Clearly demonstrate how it is unique
Clearly demonstrate commitment to the product's development
Be resident in Scotland
Be over 18 years of age
There is no limit to the number of entries an individual can submit.

10 shortlisted applicants will be contacted by the beginning of January. They will be invited to attend a presentation coaching session by ICASS at Glasgow Science Centre on Thursday 26 January 2006 to prepare them for the final, on Thursday 9 February.
At the final, which will be held in the afternoon of Thursday 9 February 2006 at Glasgow Science Centre, individuals will have the chance to exhibit their idea and discuss it with the judges. The judges will then retire to deliberate and the winners will be announced that evening at an awards dinner at Glasgow Science Centre.
The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.
Prizes:
1st prize - £1,000, trophy and IP audit from Biggart Baillie
2nd prize - £750, trophy and IP audit from Biggart Baillie
3rd prize - £500, trophy and IP audit from Biggart Baillie
All 10 shorlisted applicants will be offered the opportunity to appear on the Scottish Patents Showcase (if patented).

Tables of 10 and individual places are available for the awards dinner on Thursday 9 February at a cost of £75 per person. You will enjoy a fabulous four course meal whilst networking with the best of Scottish creative talent in the iconic and award winning Glasgow Science Centre. Glasgow Science Centre is an independent Scottish charity and all profits made from the dinner will support future exhibit and programme development.
The guest speaker for the evening is the innovative and forward thinking Gio Benedetti CBE. He will inspire, motivate and entertain you with the challenges he overcame to succeed in his field.
