A revolutionary new device is set to dramatically increase the early detection of cervical cancer
The DySIS (Dynamic Spectral Imaging System) digital colposcope measures and maps cervical pre-cancers, eliminating the subjectivity of conventional colposcopy and significantly increasing the detection rate for cervical lesions.Cervical cancer kills more than 288,000 women each year worldwide1 and affects almost double. According to the World Health Organization, ‘cervical cancer can be readily prevented, even in women at high risk for the disease, through screening and treatment using relatively simple technologies. When precancerous changes in cervical tissue are found and the abnormal tissue successfully treated, a woman will not develop cancer'.

Braveheart announce £639k Investment in Design LED Products
Braveheart Investment Group has closed a second funding round worth £639,000 for device screen lighting specialist Design LED Products, a client of Alba Innovation Centre. The angel investment firm raised cash from several of its clients with the Scottish Co-investment Fund, Highland Venture Capital and Tweed Renaissance Investors Capital (TRI Cap) also contributing.
It follows a £1.1 million investment round last January in which Siemens AG was also an investor. -
Cyberhawk shortlisted for Energy Award
Alba Innovation Centre client Cyberhawk Innovations has been shortlisted for the Energy North Awards 2011* (www.energynorth.co.uk ). The nomination in the "Best Service Supply" category has been made by Cyberhawk customer, Scottish & Southern Energy plc (SSE). -
Wellness and Health Innovation Client Viopti secure £270k in a deal led by Kelvin Capital
The followed Viopti's signing of a global licensing agreement with Polaroid for all products in the contact lens accessory sector and eye drops.
Viopti was founded in 2009 by Alastair Knox, an independent for over ten years in the television, film and media industry turned entrepreneur who had experienced the problem of nowhere to put his contact lenses in a long haul flight. After researching the current products, he founded Viopti which features the world's first pre-filled contact lens case, called Contactspod.
