Gannochy Trust Innovation Award Prize Lecture
The Gannochy Trust Innovation Award of the Royal Society of Edinburgh is Scotland’s highest accolade for individual achievement in innovation. Carrying a prize of £50,000, the award was established to encourage and reward Scotland’s young innovators. The 2010 winner, Matt McGrath, founded Aircraft Medical, which is a medical devices company based in Edinburgh and Barcelona. He has twice won the Royal Society of Arts design award and was recently named "Young Scot of the Year". What does it take to develop an award-winning technology, the McGrath® video laryngoscope Series 5, that is creating jobs and saving lives?

Marketing - the secrets of a successful marketing strategy
Billions of pounds are spent each year trying to attract and satisfy customers. But why are some companies successful and why do others fail? What are the secrets behind creating a marketing strategy that really works. In our first Master Class Gordon Brown, Managing Director for Circuit Break, gives you insight derived from twenty five years working in sales and marketing for some of the market's most innovative and dynamic companies.
Biog:
'A chartered marketer, Gordon began his career as a graduate trainee with J Sainsbury before moving to Carling O'Keefe in Toronto, Canada as a Marketing Trainee.
Upon returning to the UK he took up the position within the export division of the brewer Bass.
Rising through the ranks within Bass to Director of Brands he was responsible for all the marketing activity for Scotland's largest consumer brand, Tennent's Lager, Scotland's largest alcohol portfolio and the UK wide Tennent's equity range of alcohol brands.
Gordon then joined e-comsport; a London based sports technology company as a board director in April 2000 and helped take the company through to floatation before returning to Glasgow to set up Circuit Break in 2001.
