  2. Converge Challenge Competition 2010

    Encouraging researcher innovation

    Has your research given you an idea with commercial potential? Would you like to hone your entrepreneurial skills and see your innovation exploited in a business environment? The Converge Challenge Competition is designed to take you from researcher to innovator by giving you the skills and know-how to turn a bight idea into a viable business proposition.

    As an aspiring researcher-innovator, you will need to know how to create a business plan and market your innovation, where to access financial support and legal advice, how to build a collaborative team, and what pitfalls to avoid along the route to commercialisation. Formulating a good idea is the important first step; finding advisors with the right expertise to help develop your plan will be critical to your ultimate success.

    Converge has brought together a team of experts to support the Converge Challenge winners develop their business ideas through training and advice. In addition, a top prize worth £10,000 (£5,000 funding, plus other benefits) will be awarded to the overall Converge Challenge winner as chosen by our distinguished panel of experts. Two further prizes worth £5,000 and £3,000 will be awarded to the runners-up (1st runner-up will receive £2,500 funding, plus support; and the 2nd runner-up will receive £1,500 plus support).

    Applications are now invited for Converge Challenge, the exciting, new business plan competition for researchers!

    The deadline for ideas to be submitted is Friday 11th of June.
