Identifying, capturing and exploiting know-how is the subject of a major one day conference in Edinburgh, later this year.

Organised by the Intellectual Assets Centre, the 2009 Supplier Gathering on Know-How Capture will be staged at Our Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh on 1st December 2009.

The high profile line up of speakers includes host for the day, Tim Harford, the BBC Radio presenter and FT Undercover Economist, Ian Brinkley, a director of the Work Foundation, and David Gurteen, founder of the Gurteen Knowledge Community, a global learning network of 14,000 people in 153 countries.

Workshops include a Knowledge Cafe, focusing on knowledge sharing strategies, facilitated by David Gurteen and a specialist CPD session for lawyers, run by Maclay Murray & Spens LLP.

The event is aimed at professional advisers working in intellectual property, economic development, knowledge and technology transfer, accountants, lawyers, directors and managers, policy makers, academics and students.

Iain Russell, chief executive, Intellectual Assets Centre said, “Know-how or the knowledge and skill required to do something is an important type of intellectual property; even more so in the current economic climate, where organisations everywhere are searching for a competitive edge.

“This conference will focus on how best to capture an organisation’s know-how and transform it into real bottom line benefits.”

Delegate places are priced at £80 excl VAT with an early bird rate of £50 excl VAT available until 1st October 2009. A student rate of £10 excl VAT applies.

The event is the latest in the highly popular series of international conferences run by the IA Centre, which commenced originally in February 2006 and was re-branded ‘Supplier Gatherings’ in February 2009. The series will continue into 2010, incorporating supplier masterclasses run twice each year, bringing suppliers of IA Management together with leading experts from around the globe.
