Orange - Invite for Proposals
OSCR is an open innovation project that is being run as a collaboration between NESTA (The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) and Orange, in partnership with live|work and Wireless Innovation. The project is based on the underlying concept of "shared risk and shared reward" and aims to demonstrate how corporates can work with partners outside of their organisations on a mutually beneficial basis
We have launched online today: http://oscrproject.com/. I'm also attaching the Service Innovation brief that will be provided to all potential Start-Up / SMEs applicants.
OSCR is an open innovation project that is being run as a collaboration between NESTA (The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) and Orange, in partnership with live|work and Wireless Innovation. The project is based on the underlying concept of "shared risk and shared reward" and aims to demonstrate how corporates can work with partners outside of their organisations on a mutually beneficial basis.
I am confident that this challenge is an excellent opportunity for the Start-Up / SME members of Wireless Innovation and beyond which can lead to an ongoing business relationship with Orange that can embrace a range of different models, including licensing, joint ventures, or other forms of partnership.
As this is a call for innovations in services (which are difficult to patent), we are aiming for an ongoing business relationship with Orange that can embrace a range of different business models, including licensing, joint ventures or other forms of partnership.
OSCR will launch on October 22nd, when companies interested in submitting ideas can meet with representatives from Orange to further understand their requirements (sign up for the event here).
Responses to the brief will then be submitted to the "Trusted Agent Team" (NESTA, live|work and Wireless Innovation) who will select the most promising to enter the "airlock". It is important to note that Orange will not see any ideas at the selection stage and will not see any ideas until they leave the "airlock" (Trusted Agents will act on Orange's behalf).
Companies selected to enter the "airlock" will receive funding and support from the Trusted Agent Team to develop, protect and present their idea. After leaving the "airlock", they will pitch their ideas to Orange who will then have 90 days to decide which ideas to pursue further. After this "right of first refusal", those ideas that Orange rejects remain the intellectual property of the originator.

Sales are critical to any business and understanding the sales process, creating a market leading brand and getting results quickly for any business, particularly a young, innovative leading edge business like yours can be complex.
This ‘interactive' sales event is for people who have not had the benefit of a sales career but are expected to sell and negotiate with customers and clients.

Scot McRae and Paul Fennon, strategic marketing experts with over 40 years experience of building category leading brands and the founders of fennonmcrae, will take you through how to position your brand for category leadership and effectively generate high quality sales leads.
This is not a ‘death by powerpoint' event - you will be expected to join in / voice your opinions / challenge the speakers and the audience and basically, find out everything you need to know to maximise your businesses sales performance.
The day will contain a series practical of workshop which will tackle some of the key sales and branding issues you are currently facing as a business and we would encourage you to share these with us prior to the event.
Our client case study, Liam Hughes from Captua said, "Understanding your technology solution and understanding your customer needs are key to ensuring you pitch your product exactly for your market - get that right and the sales will definitely come!"
As Tom Hunter famously said, "If an entrepreneur can not sell, he can not succeed."

BACKGROUND
As the speed of fixed broadband communications has risen over the past ten years, available services have also kept pace, with email and web browsing giving way in bandwidth terms to music downloads, live TV, interactive gaming and peer-to-peer services. In turn, it's these new services that have created demands for higher download speeds and increased mobility.
With 73% of people now feeling that fixed broadband access is as important as electricity or water, the views of users about future services are important. This workshop will provide broadband users the opportunity to hear about the future of fixed broadband access and provide the opportunity to give input on your interests and business needs.
Our presenters will share their views of future broadband technology and services followed by all attendees being invited to join the debate to help formulate a future roadmap of services and applications by joining the three special interest workshops:
- Creating a Smart Home
- Transporting Digital Britain
- Digitising the Workplace
Booking
Registration and attendance is free, but space is strictly limited. To register, please email us at dcktn@innovationcentre.org. Alternatively, please contact 0141 585 6316, leaving your name, contact number and company name. -
