The Internet has revolutionised the way we live and communicate, offers unparalleled access to information, and is a fundamental enabler of the global economy. There are now in excess of 1.5 Billion Internet users worldwide, a number that is expected to increase markedly in the next few years with the proliferation of mobile wireless devices.

The Internet is poised to become truly pervasive, providing anywhere, anytime connectivity to people, objects and things.

The question is: Are the current Internet technologies and architectures capable of supporting these sweeping changes?

Please join the Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) at this Workshop that will explore the Future of the Internet, the opportunities offered by faster, more intelligent and increasingly pervasive IP-based applications, and the technological and other issues that must be addressed if the Internet of tomorrow is to yield its full potential.

Speakers will include Bernard Barani from the European Commission, Steve Pickavance, CISCO, Saleem Bhatti, University of St Andrews and Maurizio Pilu, Technology Strategy Board. The Workshop will conclude with an open discussion chaired by Tariq Durrani of the University of Strathclyde.

There will be ample opportunity for networking including a buffet supper. To apply for a free registration, please e-mail info@dcktn.org.uk

Registration and attendance is free, but space is strictly limited Membership of the Digital Communications KTN is free, and attendees are encouraged to register as members at www.dcktn.org.uk
