  1. 2gether08 - A festival of ideas, popular technologies and progress

    2gether is a unique new festival focused on ideas, the use of popular technologies and social progress. The inaugural Festival takes place in London on the 2-3 July 2008.

    2gether features a mix of talks, panel discussion, ideas pitching, film and music.

    The main sponsor is Channel 4; other sponsors include Unltd, Involve, NESTA, Chinwag and the RSA. 2gether will bring together creatives, technologists and champions of change to focus on how companies can innovate to promote social progress, well being and sustainability.

  2. Grow and develop a high growth innovative business

    The Alba Innovation Centre in partnership with MBM Commercial is presenting a series of lunchtime workshops offering expert advice on several aspects of growing and developing a high growth innovation business.

    The first series of events which will take place throughout June will focus on 3 key stages of any company’s development. Firstly, engaging with and using a team of legal experts to help protect and grow your business, secondly, how to attract funding and finally, what to look for in an exit strategy.

    Attendance at these workshops is free and offers companies the chance to get advice and knowledge from industry experts. MBM will be happy to chat with anybody who attends the workshops individually, after the event, or at a subsequent meeting.

    Wednesday 2nd July 12 – 2pm How to sell your business and make a bundle of money. How do business owners achieve an exit, or to put it another way, how do you realise the investment made in your business, and buy a yacht?

    Mark Michie, of MBM Commercial, explains the various options and briefly outlines the process and highlights what you need to consider along the way.   4. Collaborative Research in Digital Communication

    Collaborative Digital communication event

    Tuesday 29 July 2008 1500-1900hrs The Watershed 1 Canon's Road, Harbourside, Bristol

    The Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network has been established, with funding from the Technology Strategy Board, to create competitive advantage for the UK by facilitating the exchange of knowledge and accelerating innovation in the sector. This event, delivered in association with 3C Research, will launch the Digital Communications KTN in the West of England; present the value of collaborations in building long term relationships; showcase examples of successful projects and outline opportunities presented by the European FP7 Programme.

    Roderick Snell, Founder and Research Director of Snell & Wilcox and recipient of the prestigious Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers Progress Medal in 2006, will deliver the keynote address. UK members of the ASTRALS (Audio-visual STReaming plAtform for domestic Leisure and Security) EU FP6 project will present their experiences of the project and its related and ongoing collaborations.

    The event will conclude with an opportunity for you to view university displays of other collaborative projects. A buffet supper will be served and there will be ample time to network with colleagues from industry and academia. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is essential as numbers are strictly limited.
